Julien Macdonald Takes You to Church, but It’s Not What You Think
Julien Macdonald's catwalk spectacle might have been staged in front of a majestic altar in London's One Mayfair, but the outfits the designer showed definitely weren't made for your average Sunday trip to church. If the dance soundtrack blasting from the speakers was any indication, celebrities like Ella Eyre, Millie Mackintosh, and Sarah-Jane Crawford sitting in the front row were in for a fashionable mass.
True to form, the designer presented on Saturday a collection that was filled with figure-hugging dresses, intricate beadings, and revealing cutouts. As for the male models that walked the runway for a second time since Macdonald launched a collection of menswear back in September, they were no less sexy, wearing see-through tops, skintight biker trousers, and buckled leather boots. The overall mood varied from that of a colourful church service as the collection consisted mainly of black with touches of gunmetal and gold.
Nonetheless, kids were welcome in the church of Julien Macdonald with two tiny models gracing the runway for the grand finale. Was the designer hinting at the potential addition of childrenswear to his portfolio? Only the fashionable god knows. Read on to discover the full collection for Autumn 2016.
