Julien Macdonald Had Us Partying Hard at London Fashion Week
Julien Macdonald staged his Spring/Summer show in a nightclub in the bowels of London's bankside, and from the disco-ball-covered ceiling to the pounding music and the cocktails that were dished out to guests on the front row, it was a loud and boisterous party to end the penultimate day of London Fashion Week. Models including Winnie Harlow and Hailey Baldwin sashayed their way through the space in a succession of skimpy dresses and evening gowns, each one more risqué than the next. Slashes, cutouts, and strappy details ensured they clung to every inch of the body, while the designer also found room for plenty of his trademark cobweb knits (lest we forget, he got his start as a knitwear designer). Colour-wise, the designer stuck to his tried-and-tested palette of black and metallic, but there were also splashes of lime green, red, and bold cobalt blue. Supermodel Alessandra Ambrosio closed the show in the Utopia dress, a wisp of sparkle draped over an embellished fishnet bodysuit, which was inspired by the show's sponsor, Ciroc.
