Technology doesn't always come in the most fashionable outfits, so fashion girls are no strangers to dressing up their smartphones in Chanel N°5 flacon-inspired covers. But the thought of wearing a minicomputer on the wrist might be a step too far for some. While celebrities like Beyoncé and Katy Perry and fashion editors like Anna Wintour and Eva Chen definitely amped up the style factor of smartwatches, even Karl Lagerfeld's £13,500 customised gold Apple Watch somewhat still feels that tiny bit more geek than chic.
But there is an alternative. Huawei has designed a more traditional-looking smartwatch inspired by Swiss timepieces. It comes with serious fashion cred, including a campaign that was directed by Mario Testino and stars Karlie Kloss and Sean O'Pry. The most distinctive feature of the watch is its fully circular display. Appearing to be a classic chronograph, it comes in a range of sleek gold, silver, and black casings with leather and stainless steel straps. Obviously, fashion girls can dress it up and own the look by choosing from several watch face designs. And iPhone addicts won't have to worry: with a dedicated app, both Android and iOS users will be able to connect to the Huawei Watch.
If you're already hooked, you will have to wait until October when the watch will be available in the UK with prices starting around £300. In the meantime, read on to have a closer look and discover the campaign image.
