7 Runway Looks We Saw That Are Just SO Kate Middleton

11/09/2018 - 08:40 PM

We bet Kate Middleton's stylist has her eye on the runways, ready to update the duchess's wardrobe just as soon as she finishes her maternity leave [1]. We dug up some of Kate's old looks for inspiration and matched them up with the fresh Spring 2019 silhouettes we're spotting on the runways [2]. From a couple of new, dreamy white dresses to a Carolina Herrera coatdress we can imagine Kate wearing proudly, read on to see which ensembles made us think, "Oh, yes! That's just so Kate!" as we admired them strutting down the catwalk. Then, check out Kate's best outfits of the year [3] so far — in our opinion, anyway.

Tory Burch

Kate wore this sparkling maxi dress [4] from the brand during her April 2016 visit to Bhutan with Prince William.

We'd love to see her trade in one of her many Jenny Packham gowns [5] for this flouncy style that walked the runway, though Kate might tailor it to be more fitted with an appropriate underlay.

Kate Spade

Kate got playful in prints for World Mental Health Day, opting for this pussy-bow dress in lavender in October 2016.

We think she might take a liking to the modest ruffled neckline on this knee-length dress that walked the Spring 2019 runway [6]. Kate would, of course, swap the purple leather boots for a staple pump.

Self-Portrait

Kate Middleton's crochet Self-Portrait gown [7] made waves when she showed off its slit at the premiere for A Street Cat Named Bob in London in November 2016.

Kate, who's always seemed to favour white dresses [8] for formal events, could do with updating her wardrobe to include this extremely elegant floor-length design from Self-Portrait's Spring collection.

Prabal Gurung

Who could forget Kate's bright purple Prabal Gurung print at the state dinner in Singapore during the Diamond Jubilee tour in September 2012?

Could she possibly work this rainbow-coloured fringe design? Kate might have to make some alterations — perhaps an opaque hemline, instead of something sheer — but cap sleeves look lovely on the duchess, and this look was definitely one of the standouts on the Prabal Gurung runway [9].

Zimmermann

Kate's worn this Zimmermann Summer dress with eyelet detail multiple times. She rocked it with a woven clutch at Wimbledon in July 2014.

We'd love to see her add an intricate midi like this one to her rotation. The bishop sleeves offer a modest touch to the eye-catching Zimmermann dress.

Carolina Herrera

Kate stepped out in this cherry red coatdress from Carolina Herrera on a visit to the MacBride Museum in Canada in September 2016.

Kate does love a good coatdress, and this checked design seems to be right up her alley. The embellishments give it fresh, springtime flavour too.

Oscar de la Renta

While Kate also owns a pair of Oscar de la Renta pumps, this plum look was her first foray into OdlR outerwear. She wore it with black tights and a simple clutch and heels for the Guild of Health Writers conference in London in February 2017.

If Kate decided to opt for a more relaxed skirt suit style (as point the trends these days [10]!), we think she'd look lovely in this oversize blazer and graphic print pleated ensemble that went down the runway.
