On Sunday evening at Vauxhall Fashion Scout, Victim clothing designer Mei Hui Liu put on her fashion show. The clothing was a mix of ecclectic outfits using vintage-style fabrics and a blend of bright and mute colours. However, the part that I liked best was the unique makeup. Head artist Rachel Wood (not to be mistaken for actress Evan Rachel Wood) was sweet enough to answer a few questions for me as she worked (and I snapped photos backstage). The inspiration for the show was Zombie chic and although one of the sponsors was Benefit, Rachel also used some of MAC's basics to create that dead-of the-night gothic-pale face.
For a slew of images from the show and to find out exactly what was used on the models lips, faces and cheeks, read more.
- FACE: To begin, Rachel primed the skin and then added a layer of white base from MAC to each of the model's faces and necks. She then applied some of Benefit's Erase Paste under the eyes and finished with a generous dusting of Benefit- Powderflage Loose Powder.
- EYES: To create definition and pop to the eyes, Rachel used a little bit of lemony-gold pigment from MAC just on the middle of the eye lid. Next, she added Benefit- Waterproof Black Eyeliner to the upper and lower rims of the eyes, Benefit-Get Bent Mascara to the top lashes only and Claudia False Lashes(also from Benefit, but they are only sold in store). Lastly, she brushed a little bit of powder foundation through the eyebrows to lighten them and give them a dusty look.
- LIPS: To finish off the look, Benefit Silky Finish Lipstick in Liar Lips (a red colour) was added to the middle of the top lip to imply a vampireress (bloody) effect. Lips were finished off with MAC Clear Lip Glass.
