Will You Be Adding a Louis Vuitton Punch Bag to Your Wishlist?
When Georges Vuitton, the son of founder Louis, invented the iconic monogram back in 1896, he probably didn't imagine it would still be used over a century later. But the monogram lives on, and when Nicolas Ghesquière staged his first fashion show for the brand back in March, we fell in love immediately with the miniature luggage trunks that the models carried down the runway.
It therefore comes as no surprise that the house has declared 2014 the year of the monogram. The celebrations include a new collection of bags by designers such as Karl Lagerfeld and Christian Louboutin. Just like back in 1996, when Vivienne Westwood and Manolo Blahnik, among others, reinterpreted the iconic pattern on various shapes, these bags breathe new life into the logo. The result of this year's edition are backpacks with shearling, a cutout tote, and a punch bag. Yes, you've read correctly. The Kaiser himself (who just turned 81 by the way) will take you through the most stylish boxing warmup ever. There are also boxing gloves to go with the look. But it actually totally makes sense, as we're sure you will have to fight over all of these highly coveted pieces!
