Marios Schwab Spring 2014
Marios Schwab explored the contours of the body for Spring 2014. It was not exactly a departure for the designer, who has always created silhouettes that echo the curves of the female form, more an extension of previous collections. Schwab continued to explore looks he loves so much, like form-fitting day dresses and evening gowns with sheer overlays and sparkle underneath. But there were new, unexpected things, too. Beautiful coats in red and white, styled perfectly with upturned collars and pushed-up sleeves over long split dresses. And backpacks, which seem at odds with the designer's sophisticated style, but somehow worked, strapping sheer dresses to the body and keeping them in place. The finale dress, a coral Grecian number with deep slits, illusion panels, and beading down the front and neck, was the red carpet showstopper; expect to see this on one of Schwab's actress fans soon.
