Max Mara Has Your New Winter Coat (and the One After That)
The Max Mara Fall show was a celebration of outerwear, from heavy quilted coats to layered tweed gilets and doubled-up blazers with cropped overlays. Whether they were chunky and oversize or short and sleeveless, barely a look hit the runway without a coat or jacket of some description. Fabrications included heavy tweeds — often layered up in sets of two or three — soft furs, black patent, chunky knits, and quilted yarns, worn over pencil skirts in matching fabrics with blouses or soft, fluffy knits.
The palette offered up charcoal, black, khaki, navy, chocolate, and camel, punctuated with flashes of gold and bronze on statement skirts and shirts. Tweeds and furs added the texture, lifting the muted palette to something more memorable.
