If We Were Meghan Markle's Stylist, These Are the 7 Runway Looks We'd Want Her to Wear

15/09/2018 - 08:00 PM

Meghan Markle [1] has always been a fashion girl at heart [2]. Before becoming an official member of the royal family, the now Duchess of Sussex could even be spotted in the front row of her favourite shows during New York Fashion Week, and we wouldn't be surprised to learn that she is still keeping an eye on the runways, ready to update her incredibly stylish wardrobe [3].

This season, a few of Meghan's go-to designers [4] have shown some fresh Spring silhouettes that would be a perfect addition to her royal wardrobe [5]. From gorgeous lace gowns to more daring designs we'd love to see the duchess wear, read on to see which ensembles immediately made us think about Meghan, and then check out the one accessory she's been wearing on repeat [6] this year.

Jason Wu

For her first onstage appearance alongside Prince Harry, Kate Middleton, and Prince William in February 2018, Meghan Markle [8] opted for a simple yet striking Jason Wu trench dress [9].

The duchess also wore a stunning Jason Wu dress [10] in September, when she and Prince Harry attended the 100 Days to Peace concert.

We already know that trench dresses fit Meghan like a glove, and we think this stripy version of the blue number she wore back in February would make a great addition to her tailored wardrobe.

This Jason Wu gown immediately reminded us of the Ralph & Russo number Meghan wore [11] when she posed for her engagement portraits. Meghan is yet to wear a strapless gown to a royal event, but we think it would be perfect for the BAFTA Awards, which are regularly attended by Kate Middleton and Prince William.

Self-Portrait

When Meghan Markle [12] and Prince Harry attended a special reception in honour of the 2018 Invictus Games, the Duchess of Sussex wore a floral Self-Portrait dress [13] which we immediately added to our wish list.

Back in December 2017, Meghan also wore a high-neck lace dress from the brand [14], proving that she isn't scared of their slightly more daring creations.

We'd love to see Meghan embrace her fashion-girl roots by wearing this sheer orange gown, although she might have to trade in the small bustier for something a little more royal appropriate.

Carolina Herrera

In July, Meghan made a surprise appearance at the polo to support her husband. For the occasion, she wore a gorgeous denim midi dress by Carolina Herrera [15], which featured a V neck and thick belt.

For her very first appearance at Trooping the Colour, Meghan opted for a stunning off-the-shoulder ensemble by Carolina Herrera [16].

This white Carolina Herrera dress screams Royal Ascot. It's a modern take on the lace dresses Kate Middleton tends to wear to the event, and we'd love to see Meghan make this design her own.

Meghan is known for her love of bateau necklines [17], and we'd love to see her add this off-the-shoulder number to her rotation. The black detailing and trumpet skirts add a touch of modernity to the delicate and royal-appropriate lace.

Veronica Beard

When she and Prince Harry stepped out in Edinburgh for their first joint official visit to Scotland, Meghan surprised in a jet-black outfit [18] comprised of Veronica Beard pants and a turtleneck sweater.

Long before she became a member of the British royal family, Meghan was spotted wearing this Veronica Beard ensemble in the streets of New York.

While she has only been spotted in Veronica Beard pants and shorts, we'd love to see Meghan wear one of the designer's gorgeous dresses. This printed blue number would be perfect for a day at the polo, and we're pretty sure Meghan would love the thick belt.

This maxi dress also is a design that we would love to see Meghan wear. While the high slit might be a bit risky, the high neck gives it a more demure look.
