Following years of rock stars and actors telling us about lending their hands to good causes, it seems fashion is finally catching up with hands on charity work. This isn't the first time, but there is definitely a growing trend for models to get their hands dirty for a worthwhile cause. With so many models being from humble backgrounds (think Natalia Vodianova, Alek Wek or Iman) it makes sense that the fashion world should give something back.
Lydia Hearst is the latest to get involved as she works for Operation Smile in Cairo, she explained, "It is important for people to realise that it is possible for any one person to make a difference. My trip to Cairo was my first mission, but it will not be my last." Do you like to see models doing charity work, or do you think it's simply an act of self promotion?
