We had to do a double-take when we saw Olivia Palermo shooting her latest campaign as style ambassador for Banana Republic. The fashion pro was giving us a whole new look, edgier and more tomboyish than we're used to, with nods to her signature styling quirks. So, while we know the looks are all for Banana Republic, they still have "Olivia Palermo" written all over them.
Olivia shot on New York's streets of SoHo in three outfits — a sparkly knit set, army-green separates, and a tweed top and black trousers. The pieces are certainly the kind you'd expect to find in your local Banana Republic, classic and sophisticated, with subtle on-trend updates, but what really sets them apart is how Olivia wears them. She styled the army jacket with sleeves cuffed far above the elbow, allowing a generous portion of her top to hang out, giving it a more undone, casual vibe. The rest, too, she gave a cool-girl twist, loosening up a tweed set that might otherwise feel structured and conservative with buckled boots and cropped bottoms. And finally, she added a contemporary touch to knit separates with a knotted shirt around the waist. In each case, it's small adjustments that make the look pop — little things we can all learn from Olivia to take our outfits to the next level. Read on for the Autumn styling hacks we're stealing from the trendsetter right this minute.
