PVC Is Back For Spring, and You Don't Have to Be Kim Kardashian to Pull It Off

30/04/2019 - 06:44 PM

In September 2016, Kanye West [1] presented a largely monochromatic black-and-white runway collection under the Yeezy label. It was a Spring 2017 show rife with bodysuits, anoraks, track suits, and, yes, the first taste of PVC we got in recent memory. With a futuristic vibe, though, it still felt a little unattainable. Sure, see-through plastic thigh-high boots might work for Kim Kardashian [2] and company, but could we really rock the look without raised eyebrows?

Lucky for us, after a few years of adaptation, we're officially announcing this Summer as the season of PVC. Some of the most elegant brands have created everything from classic pointed-toe pumps to mixed-media woven bags from the material. While we still might steer clear of the Kardashian-West statement boots [3], we're still surely making a statement all our own with these newer, more wearable PVC pieces for Summer.
