Phoebe Philo made a welcome return to la mode last season as she presented her first collection for Celine. Yesterday, there was a lot of buzz in the French capital as she prepared to show her second line and the fashion press wondered if it would live up to the hype. The collection continued the style that she does so well with simple, chic pieces with Philo explaining the line in three words – "Strong. Powerful. Reduced." She used a basic colour palette keeping the focus on the cut of the clothes which included A-line skirts, crisp blouses, ankle grazing trousers and smart coats. She introduced leather this season for skirts and a trench coat with the result being effortless. She was inspired by the '70s and '80s but explained that she, "stripped it all down, reduced it. I wanted strong volume, but not too much. No fuss. A feeling of clothes that had been lived-in.” Are you impressed?
