Sofia Vergara Debuts an Affordable Denim Line With Walmart — and She's Giving Us the Details

Sofia Vergara has been bringing the laughs for seasons on Modern Family, but now the star is inspiring happiness in an entirely new way with the release of an affordable denim line with Walmart. The online-only collection includes almost 100 items ranging from jeans and denim jackets to graphic tees, and will offer sizes ranging from 0-20. The best part? It's all $40 or less.

POPSUGAR: What inspired you to create this line with Walmart?
Sofia Vergara: I love fashion, I love jeans, I love women. I like buying clothes and I have access to a lot of things, but I have always imagined what I could create at a lower price than what I already buy. I wanted to create a jean line because I think it's one of the most important pieces of clothing every woman owns in 2019. I don't know anyone who doesn't own a pair of jeans. My mom is 70 and she wears jeans, my niece is 26 and wears jeans. I needed a retailer like Walmart to get it out there and I think we did a great job with the line. Since the moment the jeans came back from production, I've been wearing them! It makes me really proud to see them on the models. They are of all sizes and they all look so amazing.
PS: Do you have a favourite piece from the collection?
SV: My favourite is the Sofia, I named them after myself. I have that same style of jeans in other expensive brands, so I recreated it with a more affordable price. The style is super comfortable and beautiful.
The Special Details in Her Designs
"We have sizes up to 20, so there are a pair of jeans for everyone. I also wanted to bring something personal to the collection, so included tags that have the evil eye on them. I have been very big into the evil eye my whole life for protection. You'll see it on the t-shirts we're selling and on the tags."
On How She Wants Women to Feel in Her Collection

The Denim Trend She Thought She'd Never Try
"I refused to wear boyfriend jeans for a long time. I was against them, I thought they were horrific, like what is that? How dare they. Then somebody gifted me a pair and I put them in my closest for I'm not kidding, almost four years. One day I said, oh let's see if I can pull this off and I got hooked. I understood what it meant to have a very comfortable jean."
How She Styles Her Hourglass Figure
"The way I style things has changed with age. I used to be a little bit more sexy and out there. Now I'm 46 and trying to look more respectable, so I do wear jeans where I can sit down and you won't see the crack of my ass."

"The one I'm wearing right now, the Sofia, is my favourite. It's a skinny jean that's not too long or short. It makes me feel put-together. I can wear this pair with heels which is mainly the shoe I like to wear, but I can also wear them with my high-top tennis shoes."
On What Her Character From Modern Family Would Wear
"Actually, Gloria has been wearing the collection for the past season because I have been testing all these jeans and I have them on for many of the episodes. We'll release some pictures of me wearing the jeans on the set."
Why She Named Each Piece After Family Members
"We were thinking, who are the women that will wear these jeans? And I said, it's the real women; the women who are your family and friends. I have all those women in my life — they're all beautiful, they all love fashion, but some are short, some are tall, some are voluptuous, some are skinny, old, young, so I based all of the styles according to what looks good on all these women."

"We started with jeans and realised that if we're going to sell online, people want to buy the whole outfit they see. So we're also selling cute t-shirts and simple, flirty tops. If you want to pair them with the jeans, it all works."
