7 Colour Combos Everyone Will Be Wearing This Spring

05/05/2019 - 09:33 PM

We're pulling out all the stops when it comes to infusing some new life into our budding warm-weather wardrobe [1]. First up? Colour. And a lot of it. But this Spring, we're not just sticking to one colour. In fact, we're mixing and matching brights and muted tones alike to create a rainbow-clad wardrobe for the ages. Taking a cue from collections like Louis Vuitton, Altuzarra, and more, check out some of the colour combinations you're about to see all over the place (if they haven't already begun to infiltrate your Instagram feed!). Plus, shop the looks ahead if you're looking for an excuse for a little retail therapy as the temperatures begin to rise.

Electric Blue + Purple

Using Louis Vuitton's Spring 2019 finale look as inspiration, we're coming out of the Spring gates strong by way of electric blue and purple. Opting for prints to make it even more eye-catching (as seen on the catwalk), we love the retro '80s vibe of this colour combo.

Electric Blue + Purple

Adam Lippes Floral-Print Hammered-Silk Top [2] ($650)

Paul Smith Slim-Fit Wool Trousers [3] ($479)

Hot Pink + Yellow

Michael Kors reminded us how much we love colour with his collection that took us straight to the beach for Spring and Summer 2019. Among his head-turning looks were a number of yellow and pink combos. Let's just say this: Michael, we read you loud and clear and will definitely be trying out this bold combo in the months to come.

Hot Pink + Yellow

Zara Banana-Print Shorts [4] ($40)

Raey V-Neck Fine-Knit Cashmere Sweater [5] ($241)

Soft Pastel + Black

Chanel's Spring 2019 show was fittingly all about pastels, but we particularly loved the looks that were also grounded in black. (OK, OK, we know black isn't the bright colour you were probably thinking of, but allow us a little creative licence here.) To keep your pastels from looking like Easter-inspired garb, consider mixing your favourite pale pinks, blues, yellows, and more with an edgy black addition or two this Spring.

Soft Pastel + Black

Goop G. Label Stephanie Satin Top [6] ($395)

Rochas Osmanthus Skirt [7] ($1523)

Bold Orange + Pink

Altuzarra had us dreaming of brightly coloured fields of florals as he walked his looks down the runway for Spring 2019. The standouts among the group, however, were the orange and pink looks, with the tones covering everything from his signature shirtdresses and swimwear to wrap midi skirts and blazers alike.

Bold Orange + Pink

Altuzarra Natalia Checked Cotton and Silk-Blend Cardigan [8] ($695)

Alexander Wang Bite Frayed Denim Shorts [9] ($245)

Bright Yellow + Green

Prabal Gurung pulled out all the stops when it came to colour in his Spring 2019 collection, but the one that felt the most seasonally appropriate was his army of looks in bright yellow and green. From knits to suiting to strapless ballgowns, he made sure to let us know this colour combo was here for the duration of the season — and unapologetically so.

Bright Yellow + Green

Blouse Glory Cashmere and Wool-Blend Sweater [10] ($330)

Red Valentino Accordion Pleat Skirt [11] ($695)

Fiery Orange + Yellow

While the overall palette of Sies Marjan's Spring 2019 show was understated, the finale reminded us of the brights of the season with a handful of looks that mixed neon yellow with a brightly burnt orange. It was euphoric yet sophisticated, and we're pretty sure we're going to be wearing this combination on the regular this season.

Fiery Orange + Yellow

Sies Marjan Gwin Cropped Stretch-Knit Sweater [12] ($495)

& Other Stories Asymmetric Satin Midi Skirt [13] ($79)

Pale Blue + Camel

Elegance hit its peak with Victoria Beckham [14]'s Spring 2019 collection, where she showed off her signature camel, paired with a light and airy pale blue that took each look to the next level. If you're looking for timeless classics with a twist, this is the combination for you.

Pale Blue + Camel

Dannijo Cami [15] ($165)

3.1 Phillip Lim Tailored Handkerchief Midi Skirt [16] ($495)
