Dressed in a bespoke navy skirt suit, Cartier headpiece, veil, and navy velvet shoes that she created herself, Stella McCartney visited Buckingham Palace yesterday with her husband Alasdhair Willis to collect an Order of the British Empire (OBE) for her services in fashion from the HM Queen Elizabeth. The 41 year old designer began her eponymous label in 2001 and has since created the 500 piece Olympic kit alongside Adidas for Great Britain. Also in 2012, Stella was named Designer of the Year at the British Fashion Awards. As for her OBE, she told the Press Association, "I feel really proud and really excited and honoured to be here." This mother of four should be beaming with gratification as she joins other OBE recipients such as Dame Vivienne Westwood, Sarah Burton and Tamara Mellon.
