Stella McCartney Shows Her Soft Side For Spring 2015
Stella McCartney pressed mute for Spring, taking the bolder hues we've seen elsewhere — bright yellow, rich cornflower blue, and bubblegum pink — and softening them up into more wearable soft yellow, pale blue, and blush. "Wearable" is, of course, the designer's strong point, and fans of the label will find plenty to love here. The shapes had McCartney's trademark relaxed feel, from voluminous silk coats to draped blouses, dresses, and trousers, many featuring cutout eyelet detail, as if someone had taken an oversize hole punch to the hems. Huge buckles decorated the shoulders of sleeveless tops and dresses, while denim featured heavily in childish '70s button-down tops and jumpsuits.
The close of the show had a feminine touch, as the breezy silhouettes of dresses and shirts continued in a washed-out madras check, before finishing in tiered, textured collages of ditsy prints and florals. The buzzword here was "easy," as everything was designed to be thrown on without a second thought.
