There has been a lot of talk recently about fascinators, especially since SJP wore won to the Sex and the City Premiere. So here is a definition of a fascinator to save any further confusion!
A fascinator is a headpiece worn on the hair and commonly made with feathers, flowers and/or beads. They attach to the hair by a comb, headband or clip. They are an adornment for formal attire and are an alternative to wearing a hat. They are particularly popular at premium horse racing events, such as the Melbourne Cup or the Grand National. They may also be worn at weddings by guests, and also as an alternative to a bridal veil.
This fascinator is from Monsoon (£18 ).
