Victoria Beckham Made the Cutest Spice Girls Reference in Her Gracious Acceptance Speech
Only a true fashion icon could do justice to the first Fashion Icon Award at E!'s People's Choice Awards on Sunday, and Victoria Beckham more than fits the bill. She accepted the inaugural award in an effortlessly chic white suit, and she delivered an inspiring speech that included what fans really wanted — a nod to the Spice Girls.
While it's been confirmed Victoria will not be joining the Spice Girls reunion tour next year, the fashion designer hadn't spoken much about it until now. Onstage at the award ceremony in Santa Monica, California, Victoria said, "I hung up my microphone quite some time ago and I get a little scared when I go onstage and see a mic." Expressing gratitude for the award, she said, "I always told myself, 'Dream big and then dream even bigger.' And I wanted to show that if I can do it, anyone can do it. And what you can achieve really can be limitless." She added a reference to the Spice Girls' "Wannabe" with a smile and a peace sign, saying, "I can't help it — if you really, really want it, OK?"
Victoria continued to say, "If you really put your head down and you focus and you work hard and you believe in yourself, what you can achieve is incredible. So many years ago, I started with girl power, and now that message is still as strong as ever. Now it's through the privilege of being able to empower women through my designs." We've officially got "Wannabe" stuck in our head. Watch Victoria's full Fashion Icon Award speech ahead.
