With Vivienne Westwood, you never just get clothes. Her shows are always about something bigger, and the Vivienne Westwood Red Label Spring 2016 show was no exception. In fact, the show notes didn't mention clothes at all. Instead, we got a letter from Dame Vivienne urging us to take a stand against "criminal" politicians. The runway was flanked by campaigners — model and activist friends — and the show ended with a demonstration up the catwalk, with the designer leading the way. "They look great, and the idea is you can have a good time at a demonstration," the notes explained.
People coming away from this show undoubtedly did so with an image in their minds that was about more than just fashion. But if you do want to know about the clothes, there were definitely plenty of them! Over 45 looks were shown, ranging from lilac tea dresses to haberdashery-inspired trousers. Or perhaps you'd prefer a shiny blue skirt with a surprise asymmetric hem at the back, or a boxy deconstructed man's shirt? There was a look to tick every box, and you can see them all in our gallery.
