Yes, the Alexander Wang Show Was Worth a Trip to Brooklyn
Alexander Wang made headlines with his decision to show his Autumn 2014 collection in NYC's Brooklyn, but the consensus was clearly that it was worth the trek (and not just because he gave out logo flasks at the bar). Wang seemed to be envisioning a future where we'd need more than the bare essentials on us, with dresses covered in pockets and pouches, along with purses that had attached water bottles hanging off, canteen-style.
Wang also got the memo that radiant orchid is the colour of the year — black got punched up with it — as well as neon chartreuse and rich cobalt. Wide leather pants were a key piece, along with his signature anoraks. The finale brought some of the world's top models including Karlie Kloss and Hanne Gaby Odiele to a rotating platform to give us all a chance to ponder what to call the new open-back boot shape that Wang introduced. The half-boot? A boole? A moot? A bootlet? Discuss among yourselves.
