Blue-eyed actress and singer, Zooey Deschanel came on board as brand ambassador of Rimmel London in March as they celebrated a ten year anniversary in America. The company is now utilising Deschanel to help boost US sales by giving her the starring role in the adverts for the new Match Perfection Foundation and Glam’ Eyes Shadows due out early in 2011.
Rick Goldberg, vice president of marketing for Rimmel London told WWD, "We wanted to add an American voice. We have an American beauty with London confidence."
"I love makeup. I’ve been wearing different beauty products for years. I shop everywhere and I love the fact you can get such great looks at a reasonable price. I want to be associated with products that are accessible for everyone."
Rimmel is hoping that Deschanel's popularity and girlish appeal will resonate with younger market. I think it will, especially since they are so well know for mascara and she has such gorgeous eyes.
