Alice + Olivia's Fall Collection Is Inspired by Gossip Girl
Alice + Olivia's Autumn 2021 Collection States the Obvious: Gossip Girl Is Back
Alice + Olivia by Stacey Bendet introduced the brand's autumn 2021 collection on Runway360, the CFDA's digital platform for streaming many of the shows on the docket this NYFW season. We're seeing a lot of designers play into fanciful themes already, and Bendet did just that with her homage to Gossip Girl style, or the classic looks of the Upper East Side mixed with downtown edge. She worked with Gossip Girl costumer Eric Daman to style the lookbook and video, which includes pops of red, houndstooth, leather, and lace, and luxe fabrics such as satin, jacquard, and velvet for evening wear — which can be worn to the ball, or, you know, to dance around the kitchen of your own house.
If there's one thing the pandemic has taught us, it's that our imagination has the power to reinvent our style — especially when you throw beloved TV shows into the mix. Dressing like our favourite characters is becoming a recipe for success when it comes to the wardrobe department. Daman is also behind the upcoming Gossip Girl reboot, so while all the looks you admire below are fresh, they're also a foreshadowing of what's to come on our TV screens, and a nod to nostalgia at the same time.
