Before the Oscars red carpet [1] even wrapped, stars had already begun to step out at the 2023 Vanity Fair afterparty, where the fashion gets even more daring. It also means that many actors who attended the ceremony opt for outfit changes. The annual late-night soirée, which attracts nearly every big name in Hollywood, was held at the Wallis Annenberg Centre for the Performing Arts on 12 March in Beverly Hills, with celebrities such as Julia Garner, Olivia Wilde [2], and Rita Ora making headlines immediately upon their arrival.
Garner chose a completely sheer, formfitting Off-White dress with a backless silhouette and a shimmering, wheel-like collar that was right in line with her avant-garde aesthetic. Meanwhile, Wilde's Gabriela Hearst look [3] was half-bra, half-dress, transformed into smouldering evening wear with the addition of a smokey eye and bedhead waves. Ora selected a corset ballgown by Wiederhoeft, which exposed the tops of her thighs through a skirt made up of thin strips of tulle, attached to the bodice by delicate silver grommets. She and husband Taika Waititi [4] made their Oscars red carpet debut as husband and wife following their August nuptials, so it was only appropriate that she wear bridal-white for the occasion. Ora finished her ensemble with vegan, silver strappy Piferi sandals to play up the hardware that trimmed her corset.
Other significant appearances included Sienna Miller [5] in Fendi Couture, Gabrielle Union [6] in a plunging sequinned Ralph Lauren Collection design, Danielle Deadwyler in an animal-print Versace minidress and blue satin gloves, and Chrissy Teigen showing off her new red hair [7] in a gemstone-embellished Zuhair Murad robe with dramatic feathers.
