Two Stone Engagement Rings Are the New Trend For 2020

Emily Ratajkowski's Engagement Ring Setting Is Already a Big 2020 Trend

When Emily Ratajkowski announced she had fashioned her own engagement ring out of melted gold, we thought that was enough to make her bridal jewellery story memorable. Then she one-upped herself and added to the stack, tapping Alison Chemla, the jewellery designer behind Alison Lou, to help her find a unique setting that would highlight her first band, but ultimately stand out even more. The result was a two-stone ring, a large tilted pear diamond contrasted by a smaller princess cut one.

The mis-matched look was obviously appealing to fashion girls everywhere, since we're seeing the trend literally and figuratively take shape on Instagram. Arielle Charnas of Something Navy had her emerald engagement ring re-set to incorporate a second stone, and there are so many similar rings already available to shop. Jewellery designer Stephanie Gottlieb even makes a band with slanted, multi-shaped diamonds that mimic the same off-kilter aesthetic.

The idea of working with a jeweler to coordinate gems or diamonds just the way you like them allows women to add a personal touch in order to better showcase their style. Alternatively, a cushion right next to a teardrop might mean something to you — maybe it even signifies something special about your relationship. While architectural masterpieces like these continue to bubble up through the new year, we've got our eyes peeled for crazy-cool variations that just might inspire you when you scroll.

Emily helped design her two-stone engagement ring that coordinates with her homemade gold band. The unique setting features one teardrop cut diamond and one princess cut.

Arielle Charnas's engagement ring was originally an emerald cut, but she recently had it re-set to accompany one more stone.

You can really personalize an engagement ring like this one, mixing and matching stones. They don't have to both be diamonds!
