I Ordered Dozens of Summer Items From Old Navy, but These Are the 13 I'm Keeping

22/07/2020 - 09:20 PM

Since we should avoid perusing stores in-person these days, online shopping has become how I purchase everything. If you're in need of some summer clothes [1], but feel overwhelmed by all the options, I'm here to help. Old Navy [2] has tons of cute and affordable releases right now, so I ordered dozens of pieces (yes, that many) to try on at home. I narrowed it down to the 13 best items you should have on your radar if your wardrobe needs a little pick-me-up.

Ahead, check out my favourite pieces I am keeping this summer. For reference, I am wearing a size large in everything. Luckily, all of these clothes are under $50, so you'll be getting major deals. Plus, Old Navy is having a huge sale today and you can get an extra 20 percent off most items with the code SWEET. Follow along on my try-on journey and buy some new must haves from the comfort of your couch. It's a winning situation all around.

The Comfiest Dress For Hanging at Home

The Piece: Waist-Defined Striped French Terry Midi Dress [4] ($38, originally $40)

The Verdict: This came in the mail last week and I've already worn it three times — it's that good. The terry material is like lightweight sweats fabric, which makes it perfect for summer. When I'm working from home, this is the perfect comfy outfit that still makes me feel put together. Plus, this dress has pockets!

The Most Flattering Wrap Dress I've Ever Worn

The Piece: Wrap-Front Dolman-Sleeve Midi Dress [5] ($40, originally $45)

The Verdict: I had no idea how much I would love this dress until I put it on — it's one of the most flattering pieces I've purchased in 2020 — no exaggeration. The fabric is so soft and stretchy. The wrap silhouette cinches my wait to give me an hourglass figure. I'm definitely buying this in black too.

A Cute and On-Trend Workout Set

The Pieces: High-Waisted Elevate Crop Leggings [6] ($18, originally $27)
Medium Support Strappy Sports Bra [7] ($15, originally $25)

The Verdict: I have had my eye on this tropical set for a month now, and it didn't disappoint. I usually shy away from patterned leggings because they're not so flattering across my stomach, but this pair holds me in and makes me feel confident. I love the combination of millennial pink and green.

A Flowy Sundress For Hot Weather (and Comfy Espadrilles!)

The Pieces: Tiered Embroidered Midi Swing Dress [8] ($45)
Faux-Suede Lace-Up Espadrille Flatform Sandals [9] ($32, originally $35)

The Verdict: This light and flowy sundress is so comfortable and I love the stitching details. The pink is sadly sold out, but I personally really love the white option because it's more versatile. This is my new go-to for running errands in the summer heat.

My Favourite Breathable Face Masks

The Pieces: Variety 5-Pack of Triple-Layer Cloth Face Masks for Adults [10] ($13)

The Verdict: I have tried tons of face masks, but I can sincerely say this set is my favourite. It comes with five (only four are pictured because I already wore one and put it in the wash!). Make sure to check out all the colour combinations you can choose from, because there are a lot.

A Tie-Dye Tank Top and Wear-Everywhere Overall Shorts

The Pieces: Breathe ON Tie-Back Tank Top [11] ($18, originally $20)
Off-White Jean Shortalls [12] ($45)
Faux-Suede Lace-Up Espadrille Flatform Sandals [13] ($32, originally $35)

The Verdict: This tie-dye tank is a great material — lightweight and very smooth. Plus the overalls — not only are they ridiculously comfy, they are also easier to wear when running errands or doing home improvements. I feel like I can move around in them without any restrictions. I also appreciate that they have tons of pockets (yay for not carrying a purse!) and the denim is soft, not rigid.

A Pretty Camisole and My Most Versatile Jeans

The Pieces: Tie-Front V-Neck Cami [14] ($25, originally $30)
Extra High-Waisted Wide-Leg Jeans [15] ($40)

The Verdict: I probably could have sized down to a medium in this red cami, but the loose fit is better for hot days. I appreciate that the front tie is adjustable. Also, these jeans are one of my favourite staples — they're comfortable and my most-worn denim.

The Perfect Cushioned Espadrilles and Embroidered Summer Piece

The Pieces: Faux-Suede/Faux-Leather Ankle-Strap Espadrilles [16] ($35)
Embroidered-Yoke Square-Neck Top [17] ($25, originally $35)

The Verdict: OK, these espadrilles are like squishy little clouds. They might even be comfier than sneakers. I love this dress, which is sadly sold out, but the shirt version is still available to shop! The embroidered details make it look expensive and luxe.
