9 Editors Name Their Favourite Fashion Week Looks: Your Outfit Inspo Awaits

Fashion editors, stylists, buyers, influencers, and celebrity front-row staples attended Fashion Month dressed to the nines to view the Spring 2020 collections. But their outfits involved styling tricks and pieces that feel very now, very Fall. Some of the best street style I saw excited me to the point that I was basically taking notes everywhere I went. "Wear your slip skirt with that tie-dye hoodie." "Cinch your strappy heels around those pooling trousers you always say are too long on you." These were more like little reminders to myself about future combinations I should try, but I also wondered if they were so attractive to me because the women wearing them appeared so confident in their clothes.

I made an effort to ask my friends in the industry what they actually felt most confident in during Fashion Month: Which outfit were they most excited to plan out? Did they initially intend to wear it in New York but then end up packing it for Paris? Was it something daring — be it a colour or silhouette — they'd normally stray away from? After connecting with my peers, I ended up with a handful of looks that I'd call "the best of the best." Why are they the best of the best? Because the ladies pulling them off loved them the most, felt that they were flattering, and stopped to pose proudly for a picture. So yeah, these are combinations I'd definitely suggest trying if I were you. They've all got a solid stamp of approval.

"My favourite Fashion Week outfit gave off Carrie Bradshaw vibes for sure, though it wasn't directly inspired by her. I've been into the head scarf look, and I thought it would be fun to stay casual toward the top, throwing on a simple graphic tee, and then slowly amp up the sophistication with a pair of tailored periwinkle slacks and my Chanel slingbacks, which are a bit of a throwback at this point."

"I love to take a step back from all the prints and attention grabbing looks and focus on well tailored neutrals. These Nanushka pants have a velvet swirl print and drawstring waist, so even though it was a simple palette, the pieces were interesting. Also, the bag is Vegan leather. :)"

"My favourite outfit that I wore during Fashion Week is this Zimmermann dress with Cult Gaia shoes and a Gucci bag. I never really wear dresses with a high-neck and I loved the Victorian-esque feel it exuded. It made me feel regal."

"I loved this fashion safari look for two reasons: 1) I've never loved a pair of pants as much as this utilitarian style from Ulla Johnson (the leg-lengthening effect is real!) and 2) I tend to be more minimal and this look has a lot going on — Voluminous sleeves! Animal print! Statement pants! — but thanks to the neutral palette and clean accessories, the effect felt tempered and wearable for my day-to-day routine."

"Sometimes, the simpler the better. I loved this goldenrod Lorod top and Peter Do pants together. Both pieces are easy to style and just the right mix of relaxed and polished."

"My favourite outfit from Fashion Month was probably this all-pink shorts suit from The Frankie Shop. I almost never wear colour but NYFW is a great time for me to step outside my usual sartorial conventions and try something new. Plus, I already love wearing oversize shorts suits, so experimenting with colour felt a lot easier than it would have if it were in a silhouette I didn't already wear frequently."

"My favourite outfit I wore during Fashion Month was this shorts suit by Tibi. It was simple, but impactful, and enabled my Brother Vellies mules and other various accessories to shine."

"My favourite outfit involved two designer pieces that I was coveting for a while before I finally made a purchase: Calvin Klein by Raf Simons metal cap-toe Western boots and a Marine Serre moon-printed top. I paired them with my go-to boxy blazer from Mango and loose jeans from Brooklyn shop Pêche, which became my Fashion Month staples — I rotated through a mix of tops and footwear to ease my decision fatigue."

"I planned out all white and cream looks for NYFW. My white blouse and trousers look made The Cut's lead image for best street style that day, and so I felt like a champ."
