When Billy Porter is involved in a project, fabulousness is a given. Such is the case with the Pose superstar [1]'s new Jimmy Choo collection, which he curated alongside the brand's creative director, Sandra Choi, to celebrate Pride Month. The capsule range features gender-neutral pumps, loafers, boots, and handbags in lush jewel tones, eye-catching metallic, and chic animal print. FWIW, we've personally got our eyes on the liquid-gold ankle booties, but every item is equally splurge-worthy.
In a press release about the launch, Billy explained that the collection is inspired by his mom, who has a degenerative neurological condition that affects her mobility. "This line is dedicated to my mother, whose biggest dream as a disabled woman was to be able to walk in
a pair of high-heeled shoes," he said. "She never got to achieve that dream, but I get to stand in proxy for her for all the world to see. My mother is the personification of the power of what true unconditional love looks like. And as a gender-neutral collection, my goal is to free folks from the chains that bind authenticity on all levels."
The Jimmy Choo x Billy Porter collection is now available for preorder online [2], with sizes inclusively extending from EU 36 to 45. To commemorate the launch, the footwear brand donated $100,000 (£70,701) to The Trevor Project, a nonprofit that provides suicide prevention and crisis intervention services to LGBTQ+ youth. Ahead, admire Billy's iconic campaign photo shoot and browse each shoe and purse to decide which you're adding to your summer shopping wish list [3].
