Brockhampton's Style Proves That They Are, in Fact, the "Best Boy Band Since One Direction"

Brockhampton may be a self-proclaimed "boy band," but their style is far from it. The four 20-somethings quickly rose to fame after releasing their trilogy of Saturation albums in 2017, and their latest album, Ginger, has only cemented their position. (If you're wondering how all of them met in the first place, it was thanks to a Kanye West forum back in the day.) Another thing they've mastered? The art of finding the perfect normcore outfit that makes them look like they've been transported straight from the early '90s.

Much like their catchy songs, I can't stop thinking about their outfits. When I saw them at Governors Ball last Summer, it was clear they were there to have fun with both their performance and their outfit choices. While most performers bopped around on stage in a sweatshirt, jeans, and a pair of cool sneakers, Brockhampton's crew all came out full of energy in silver space-age suits that were hard to miss.

Their coordinated looks and semi dance moves reminded me of boy bands from the '90s, which makes sense if you've listened to their music. In songs like "Sweet" and "Boogie," they talk about their love for boy bands with lyrics like, "Listening to NSYNC, saw my name on the CD. Bleach blond tips, wanted to be JT," and my personal favourite, "Best boy band since One Direction." They've definitely been taking cues from these groups but given their look a unique spin that's truly their own. It's safe to say their style is not the stuff of a typical boy band. Read on to see some of my favourite looks.

If this doesn't look like it's straight from the '90s, IDK what does.

While most people would look silly wearing a "fiend" vest, Brockhampton's Joba pulls it off with ease.
