If you love affordable fashion – honestly, who doesn't?! – you're in for a treat. Actress Cara Santana has teamed up with Kohl's to design an affordable clothing collection in collaboration with Apt 9, and let me tell you, it is good. Inspired by female empowerment and diversity, the size-inclusive assortment features superwearable pieces with a trend-forward twist. Think vegan leather separates (including an amazing jumpsuit, pants, and the slickest jacket), menswear-inspired suiting in fun colours and cool prints, neon tops, knits, outerwear, sexy sweater dresses, and so much more. Oh, and every single item is under $100. Yes, that includes the statement-making coats and leather jumpsuit.
Designed with all women in mind, from aesthetic to age and body type, Santana explained to POPSUGAR how and why she wanted to collaborate on an affordable, diverse, and inclusive clothing line. "The two things that are so important to me is, one, that it's Kohl's, because that's where I grew up shopping, but, two, that we make a campaign and a collection that is indicative of the women of this country. I couldn't imagine doing something that wasn't inclusive. It's a reflection of society," Santana said.
Cara Santana On Inclusivity in Fashion
With an expansive size range from 00 to 22 with select pieces going up to 24, Santana wanted to make sure her Apt 9 collaboration felt relevant to the masses, not an exclusive few.
"I think when you look at the landscape of America and of this country there is such a large number of women who are not being represented in the marketing space, in the advertising space, and they still have to get dressed. I don't think that it makes sense to have a mass retailer that doesn't cater to the majority of women in America. Just because you live in a different area, you have different socioeconomic status, you have a different shape, a different colour to your skin, that doesn't mean you shouldn't have the opportunity to look and feel your best."

As for stand-out pieces from the collection, Santana told POPSUGAR that she has favourites for every mood and aesthetic that she wears which in turn, offers a variety of pieces for every event and for every woman. "I think that as women we're so multifaceted and there's so much juxtaposition and duality to us. I don't know about you, but I don't want to dress the same every day. Some days I feel like a bad-ass or I want to be very masculine and other days I feel very feminine and girly. So I think there's favourite pieces [in this collection] for each mood or persona that I have."
Cara Santana On Fall Fashion Trends
While Santana's collection includes wearable Fall trends from tailored leather pieces to neon colours and bold suiting, she has a simple tip when it comes to experimenting with trends.
"Take your personal style and infuse it with whatever trends you see. People get all twisted and turned around when they take a trend and try to emulate something that they've seen on the runway that doesn't match who they are. What I would tell any woman getting dressed is, 'Who are you? Are you someone who feels comfortable in full leather? Are you someone who likes to be in flats? Someone who likes to be in heels?'. I think it's all about what your own personal style is," she says. In other words, mix and match your favourite wardrobe staples with the trends you want to try.
