The Bachelorette's Clare Crawley wears a promise ring, or "self-love" ring, on her left ring finger, and she's received a few questions about it since season 16 began airing. It seems some people are confused as to why she keeps it on her left hand, where one would wear an engagement ring. Clare is speaking out about why the piece of jewellery is special to her, and we are definitely here for the meaning behind it.
"People have noticed I wear this ring on my wedding finger, and have asked why! The truth is because it is a commitment to myself first and foremost, to embody self-love. In the past I found myself getting into relationships where there was little to no reciprocity, and in the end would feel depleted and empty. This is my promise to myself, to make sure I always had enough self love that no matter what happened, I was committed to loving myself unconditionally, and that is something no man could take away from me," Clare wrote on Instagram, tagging the designer of the ring, Miss Diamond Ring by Michelle Demaree, in her post.
Turns out, the piece is from Demaree's Diamond With Soul collection, and is the Le Femme Eternity shape, which retails for $6,200 and is made up of 2.54 carats of round-, pear-, marquise-, and emerald-cut diamonds. Demaree posted a video on her page, speaking to the reason Clare bought the piece for herself and the messageing behind the collection.
"I wanted to clear the air and explain the whole idea behind intention diamonds . . . it's for a woman to honour herself and really connect to her highest self with an intention behind the piece of jewellery. It could be for self love, a personal goal, health commitment, calling in your soul mate, forgiveness, healing — so many things that we all go through. Diamonds are crystals, so they help us amplify energy," she explained, driving home the point that we can only love others at the level that we love ourselves.
