OK, I have a confession: I have Instagram post notifications on for Drake. I said it. I'm not sure when I turned them on or how to turn them off, but here we are with a notification every time he posts. So, when the champagne papi posted a video on Nov. 22 with a mysterious Toronto backdrop and the Nike logo [1], the wheels started spinning. Drake was teasing his upcoming collection with Nike, set to release on Dec. 18, and while we do have some time to hypothesize what it'll include, I can say without a doubt it's going to the top of my holiday wish list. (Mom, if you're reading this, it's not too late.) Adding to the hype, Drake also followed a new private Instagram account with the username 12.18.2020 [2] that he tagged in the video.
It's not the first time Drake has collaborated with the athletic brand, as just last month he released his "Certified Lover Boy" merchandise [3] ahead of his sixth studio album of the same name that will release in January. He also signed with the Nike-owned Jordan Brand in 2013, released a few pairs of exclusive sneakers, and recently he spent time at the Nike World Headquarters in Oregon [4].
But this upcoming December collection has a different feel to it since it's presumably not tied to his album and simply a capsule collection filled with swag-infused pieces for the winter months. According to Complex, the collection is all apparel [5] and reportedly includes different types of jackets, hoodies, sweatpants, track pants, shirts, socks, and a hat, all in black and gold.
