Dua Lipa has just released "Sweetest Pie" alongside Megan Thee Stallion [1], and she's having a significant Victorian-inspired fashion moment. The singer slipped into an assortment of intricate costumes for the music video, but she didn't stop there. On her Instagram, she also posted a Marie Antoinette-themed shoot [2], this time wearing a white satin boned corset with blue-and-silver mirrored stones decorating the bodice. The jewels were emphasised with an oversize gold chainlink heart necklace, reminiscent of the Schiaparelli hardware she sported on her fitted gown and S-shaped horns in "Sweetest Pie."
Lipa finished the look for her regal shoot with sheer black tights, hoops, chunky rings, and towering, patent platforms, which she showed off in a shot that focuses on the lace-up detail at the back of her bustier. Images of flowery cakes, donuts, and cupcakes are sprinkled in between the fashion moments, just like the sugary dessert trays Kirsten Dunst [3] picks over as Marie Antoinette in Sofia Coppola's 2006 film about the young queen.
Of course, Lipa is known for reworking a Y2K fashion trend and giving it her all. Most recently, we've seen her fully commit to the resurgence of butterflies [4] through a Versace red carpet gown [5] and Masha Popova crop top [6]. Her dedication to the low-rise trend [7], bold catsuits [8], and hip cutouts [9] are some of her other big 2000s-inspired fashion moments. Lipa's stylist, Lorenzo Posocco [10], helped bring to life the sartorial vision for this latest collection of images, photographed by Lauren Leekley [11].
