Ella Emhoff and Batsheva Are Collaborating on Knitwear

Ella Emhoff Is Collaborating With Her Inaugural Dress Designer — That's What Dreams Are Made of

Ella Emhoff's fashion career has certainly skyrocketed following the inauguration. Kamala Harris's step-daughter nabbed a contract with IMG models and was featured in her first New York Fashion Week collection for Proenza Schouler, plus, she's working on her own designs at Parsons. Emhoff's resume will soon include a collaboration with dress designer Batsheva Hay, who made the burgundy, satin ruffled midi dress she wore underneath her legendary Miu Miu coat. Vogue announced the news during an episode of "Good Morning Vogue" where the crew first joined Emhoff and her design school friends Fifi Hodgkinson and Irene Hayes to talk about her quick rise to fame.

As emerging industry creators, the women agree it's pretty neat that Ella's been DMing people (like Batsheva Hay) that they really admire. "I got to meet her on Zoom. So many of her designs are so cohesive to my personal wants and needs," Emhoff said of the designer, who founded her label in 2016 to fight antiquated ideas of feminine dress with modern touches. (Most dresses go for around $300.) We eventually see Batsheva and Ella meet in the studio, where they toss around notes for their upcoming knitwear line and marvel over the fact that this collaboration is both of their fashion dreams come true. We'll certainly be on the lookout for this launch as we're more than ready to add a few pieces to our closet.
