Despite a dress code of rewearing an outfit to the 2020 BAFTA Awards, Emilia Clarke just had to show up looking brand new. The Game of Thrones actor wore a sparkling black full-length dress that was straight from Schiaparelli's most recent runway show — and you've got to zoom in for a closer look at the gorgeous, and unexpected, beaded embroidery.
Emilia's dress is from Schiaparelli's Spring/Summer 2020 couture collection, designed by Daniel Roseberry. The black spaghetti-strap gown features a scoop neckline with cobalt-and-black beaded embroidery that is stitched in the shape of an actual skeleton — with a focus on the ribs, pelvis, and legs. The founding designer Elsa Schiaparelli was a part of the surrealist art movement in the 1930s, which explains why Schiaparelli's designs have a twisted sense of humour. The back of the dress also features a deep scoop neck and a mid-calf slit. Emilia paired the look with black silk-satin peep-toe pumps and silver drop earrings with a cobalt blue square-cut gemstone, side-parted slicked back hair, and a soft smokey eye with neutral cheeks and lips.
