Emily Ratajowski is turning over a new leaf. On 3 March., the model arrived at Paris Fashion Week for the Loewe autumn 2023 runway show wearing a faux anthurium flower top. The eccentric design featured skinny chartreuse straps hidden underneath her plant-inspired look. From the centre of the backless shirt, a hyper-realistic stigma emerged, fading from dark pink to bright green. She paired the standout piece with low-waisted trousers and sandals, sweeping her hair into a high bun to show off every detail of the flower.
While her leaf top definitely stood out from her front row seat [1] at the show, having fun with fashion is nothing new for Ratajkowski. Previously, she's stepped out in everything from polarising thigh-high knee socks [2] to an entirely fishnet dress [3]. In fact, some of her fashion has been so controversial, she still remembers the drama years later, previously referring to a particular plunging dress [4] she wore to the 2016 Harper's Bazaar Icons party as "the most controversial dress I've ever worn."
"I was basically called out for wanting attention, which I think is interesting because you go to red carpets for attention, basically," she said in a video with Harper's Bazaar [5] from October 2022. Now, Ratajkowski continues to keep her fans on their toes with naked dresses [6] and a singular leaf as a top.
Anthuriums, also called flamingo flowers, are known for their bright colouring and unique shape. But considering their reputation as tropical plants with a fondness for humidity and warmth, Ratajkowski's look was a surprisingly vibrant choice for a cloudy March day in Paris. Could this be the model's way of ushering in brighter days? Check out her full outfit below.
