Emma Watson’s Sustainable Two-Piece Set Proves She’s Back in the Fashion Spotlight

20/10/2021 - 04:15 AM

Emma Watson [1] has arrived back on the fashion scene [2] like she never left. Though the actress and activist [3] refrained from social media for much of 2021, she's treated fans to two head-turning style moments this week, and, as expected, both looks were created with sustainability top of mind. Just two days after wearing an upcycled Harris Reed wedding gown and bell-bottoms [4] to the Earthshot Prize awards on Sunday, the 31-year-old star stepped out in a floral top and matching skirt to interview politician and environmentalist Al Gore. Custom-made by royal family-adored designer Emilia Wickstead [5], the two-piece set featured a cropped, ab-baring blouse and long skirt, both made of residual material from her resort 2022 collection [6].

While offering a peek at her outfit on Instagram, Emma shared more details about how the ethical outfit came to be. "Thank you to the loveliest Emilia for making me this beautiful custom piece," she wrote. "It was handmade in London using leftover fabrics consisting of 62% recycled yarn that was locally sourced, woven, and printed in Italy. I will be wearing this a lot!!" We'd be wearing it a lot too, Emma!

She styled her set with a black bralette also made by Emilia, simple metallic rings, a thin gold bracelet, and two gold bird hair clips by Epona Valley [7], a woman-owned, New York City-based hair accessory brand. This isn't the first time Emma and Emilia have teamed up in the name of statement-making fashion — back in 2017, Emilia used unwanted fabric pieces to create a grey off-the-shoulder gown for Emma's Beauty and the Beast press tour. Read ahead to admire Emma's latest climate-conscious look, and join us in hoping for even more in the coming weeks.
