Popsugar Fashion Antiracism Fashion Brands Donating to Black Lives Matter Organisations #PullUp For These Fashion Brands, Because They're All Giving Back to the Black Community 2 June 2020 by Sarah Wasilak View this post on Instagram There’s nothing else we can say that wasn’t already perfectly said by our founder, Rihanna (@badgalriri). So we’re putting our $$ where our mouth is. In solidarity with @claralionelfdn, we will be donating funds to support @blmgreaterny and @bailproject. We’re only asking one thing of you: #PullUp Now’s not the time to stay silent or stand by. Pull TF Up. A post shared by SAVAGE X FENTY BY RIHANNA (@savagexfenty) on May 30, 2020 at 4:24pm PDT Now more than ever it is our duty to support the Black community and, as a fashion site, we vow to be a resource for you. From the smallest start, like following Black fashion influencers, to greater efforts, like shopping and supporting designers and brands that need business, we can encourage change within the fashion industry. One of the first questions I had was "where can I donate?" I'm happy to see that a lot of fashion designers, houses, and labels are taking first steps, not only to pledge a donation but to share with followers how much they are willing to give and especially where they are dedicated to sharing a portion of their funds. It's important to note that a lot of the businesses listed here, all of which are considering ways to help, have been deeply affected by the COVID-19 crisis and continue to struggle. By shopping from the brands listed ahead, we can help these companies sustain their finances while also contributing to the Black lives matter movement through their platforms. Read on to check out the pledges we've gathered, and please send an email if you're aware of other brands that should be included on this list. We will be donating all web sales made this past weekend and today to the following organizations: @blklivesmatter, @bailproject, @aclu_nationwide and @naacp Legal Defense Fund. We are currently at $67,000. Help us raise more today for these incredible organizations. Swipe for just a few ways to take action. We have been trying to wrap our heads around how to best respond, as we wanted it to be meaningful. We acknowledge the privilege and power we have with the platform of this brand and know that it is only right that we use it to bring awareness and share educational information and resources in ways that help people take action. It is our human duty to stand for what is right. It is our human duty to speak out against injustices, to have compassion, to listen and learn, to raise our voices, to support the Black community, and to do better George Floyd didn't have to lose his life. Ahmaud Arbery didn't have to lose his life. Breonna Taylor didn't have to lose her life. What has been done to these humans, and the countless others throughout history is senseless and wrong Enough is enough. And it's time for actual change, we must do better so we can teach our future generations to be better. We as a company must own up to our responsibilities to make a change, to stand for what is right. We are committed to do so, to do more, to be better. As we’ve been researching and educating ourselves, our silence—born out of the fear of saying the wrong thing—has gone on for too long. Today, our company and founders will be donating $100,000 across the below organisations, in support of the fight to end racial injustice. @blklivesmatter @naacp @aclu_nationwide We know this is not enough—we must continue to listen, research, and educate ourselves about systematic injustice and state sanctioned violence against Black people globally. We have a lot of work to do, but we commit to doing better and commit to continued action. If you are thinking about making a purchase with GANNI this week, we ask you to consider donating to an anti-racism organization instead. Additionally, starting this week and each week moving forward, we will be commissioning work from the Black creative community to share on our platforms. If you are a Black creator that’s interested in collaborating with GANNI, please DM us. It’s a small start, but the change begins now. #BlackLivesMatter #NoJusticeNoPeace #GeorgeFloyd #AhmaudArbery #BreonnaTaylor A post shared by GANNI (@ganni) on Jun 1, 2020 at 8:01am PDT Donations will be made to: Black Lives Matter, NAACP, and ACLU. 8 / 25 Susan Alexandra's Pledge View this post on Instagram Continuing to put my $ where my mouth is. I felt the suffering of many and felt desperate to do something, whether it was to give back, or just to help someone smile…even if for a second. While we still struggle with the pandemic, what has always scared me more is this racist pandemic that must stop. We have lost too many innocent lives in such an inhumane way. While OUR FLOWER SHOP is not a solution, I hope that something small can eventually lead to something bigger. This bouquet is not only dedicated to George Floyd, but the countless lives we have lost to racism. 100% of the proceeds of this bouquet will go to MINESSOTA FREEDOM FUND. @mnfreedomfund #georgefloyd #blacklivesmatter Update 5/31 @Mnfreedomfund has done incredible work and raised 20 million dollars! Prabal Gurung stands in solidarity with, and in support of Black lives everywhere - and all those who are committed to combatting racism, oppression, inequality, and injustice. We have posted, donated, signed petitions, marched in protests, spoken on panels, and shared important resources - but this didn’t feel like enough. This is just one additional step, and we know there is still more we can do. Prabal Gurung’s longtime ethos STRONGER IN COLOUR is the dream of a vibrant world of diverse culture and beauty, that turns on an axis of equality and achieves progress through unity. This ideal feels important as ever, as we currently face not only a global pandemic, but the crisis of humanity that is the systemic racism and structural inequity in the United States of America. For too long, Black communities have been marginalized through racist policing and imprisonment, pretrial injustice, police brutality, cuts from state and federal funds, resources being stripped from them, unequal pay that contributing to socio-economic inequality, relaxed environmental regulations in their neighborhoods, and unfair hiring practices. This list goes on and it must end. These issues have always been vitally important, but as we walk through the streets alongside protests, and unified chants for justice are heard around the world, it feels as though we are on the precipice of true change as this movement barrels forward. STRONGER IN COLOUR hoodies and t-shirts are available now (link in bio) from June 3rd - June 15th. We have chosen not to hashtag this post to preserve that space on your feed for critical information to the Black Lives Matter movement. A post shared by Prabal Gurung (@prabalgurung) on Jun 3, 2020 at 3:39pm PDT Donations will be made to: The Bail Project through Prabal's Stronger In Colour collection, for which 100 percent of net proceeds will be donated to the organization. 22 / 25 Cult Gaia's Pledge View this post on Instagram Use your voice.
