The POPSUGAR Editors Winter Wish List Has Everything You Need to Keep Cosy

01/11/2019 - 08:45 AM

Winter is coming very very quickly (yeah, we're as shocked as you are), so we've started curating our cosy weather wardrobe to give you some inspiration for the month ahead. Despite the chilly temperatures, we love this season for all the festive parties and chic layering. This month, the POPSUGAR editors are investing in a gorgeous winter jacket, a smart pair of black ankle boots, some snuggly knits, and a few fun accessories.

A pair of black ankle boots [1] is the official shoe of Winter. Our team is loving a classic low-heel Chelsea boot, a pair of chunky lace-up biker boots, and a polished pair of high heel patent stompers.

In the spirit of keeping warm while looking cool, we're eyeing a faux leather, shearling-lined biker jacket, and a pretty pink puff-sleeve shacket. To complete our cosy layered looks, cardigans and jumpers [2] are also high on our list – especially in a slouchy, easy-to-tuck-into-your-trousers kind of look. And just because it's Winter, doesn't mean we're forgetting to accessorise. Team PS is keeping our look interesting with an edgy '90s inspired shoulder bag, a pair of pink marbled sunglasses, and leather gloves that are touch-screen compatible – genius.

Read ahead for all the cosy, winter-ready pieces that are at the top of our wish list.

Topshop Apricot Shacket With Wool

"I might be ready for the chilly November mornings and crisp walks through the park (when the sun peeks out), but I'm certainly not ready for my all-black Winter wardrobe just yet. This Apricot Shacket With Wool [4] (£59) is cosy, surprisingly warm, and because of the button-up sleeves, for once, this coat doesn't is exactly the right length for my short arms. Plus, it gives me serious The Marvellous Mrs. Maisel vibes (which I'm all about)" – Ange Law, assistant editor

Retrofête Gabrielle Mini Wrap Dress

"With all of the events and Winter weddings, a good cold-weather party dress — with long sleeves, of course — is an essential in my book. I've been really into sequins and Studio 54 vibes, and the burnt orange hue of this Retrofête Gabrielle Mini Wrap Dress [5] (£595) is perfect because it not only works with most of my jewellery (I almost exclusively wear gold), but it also doesn't feel too bright or too costume-y, which can happen quickly when wearing head-to-toe sequins. I can't wait to pair it with strappy stilettos and some long chandelier earrings." – Sophia Panych, content director

Ash Jasmin Heeled Boots Black Patent Leather

"I have a mild obsession with black patent ankle boots, and these Ash Jasmin Heeled Boots Black Patent Leather [6] (£189) will perfectly dress up my winter outfits while I'm stomping on the pavement. I love these boots because they're easy to keep clean, are surprisingly comfortable, and have a great heel for bar hopping in east London." – Kara Kia, assistant editor

Warehouse Cosy Wide Cutabout Rib Jumper

"Warehouse's knitwear is really amazing this season, and it even got the royal seal of approval when the Duchess of Cambridge wore a jumper from there earlier this Autumn. Her buy is sold out but I'm loving this chunkier, cooler Warehouse Cosy Wide Cutabout Rib Jumper [7] (£31.50, originally £42). It comes in so many colours but the light blue is my top pick." – Gemma Cartwright, senior editor

KG Kurt Geiger Tilly

"As the mornings get so chilly I can see my breath in the air, alongside the need to change my moisturiser, it also means I need to change my shoes. I'll put my beloved Kurt Geiger Lobster Trainers to one side in favour of something a little more durable and warm. I've had my eyes on the KG Kurt Geiger Tilly [8] (£129) for a few weeks now. They look perfect for the Winter weather but can also be dressed up for most work occasions, and I absolutely cannot resist the pearl detailing." – Tori Crowther, associate editor

Zara Double-Faced Biker Jacket

"This is the third year in a row that Zara's brought back this Zara Double-Faced Biker Jacket [9] (£96) and it sells out every time. I know because last year I wanted to buy it and waited too long until it was sold out both in-store and online. This year, I wasn't taking any chances and snapped it up the minute I saw it in the window on Oxford Street. I basically live in my (faux) leather motorcycle jacket for most of the year, so having a Winter-friendly version of that basically means it works with nearly every piece of clothing and accessory I already own." – SP

Velvet Canyon Zou Bisou

"Another way I'll be brightening up my dark Winter wardrobe is with a pair of statement sunglasses. This Velvet Canyon Zou Bisou [10] (£139) pair by Velvet Canyon (in the colour 'cream tort') might look typically Summery, but I'll be rocking them all Winter long." – AL

Acne Chelsea Boots Black

"As we slide into Winter (rapidly), I've been looking at my cold weather wardrobe and feeling . . . underwhelmed. Last year I bought next to no new pieces, so this season I'm determined to invest in a few signature pieces. I love these classic Acne Chelsea Boots Black [11] (£410) because they go with everything, and I love the subtle edginess of the pointed toe and angular elastic." – AL

Aries Mini Pouch

"Aries is definitely my favourite brand of 2019, combine that with the '90s shoulder bag influence of this Aries Mini Pouch [12] (£285) and I'm sold." – KK

Only Stripe V Neck Jumper

"Anything black-and-white striped catches my attention, including this Only Stripe V Neck Jumper [13] (£30). In my opinion, it's a great transitional jumper since it's thin enough to wear under coats but not too thick that I'll absolutely boil on the tube commute home." – TC

& Other Stories Smocked Ruffle Hem Midi Dress

"I could live in Stories midi dresses. The knitted ones are so cosy, easy to throw on in the morning, and look polished all day. I love that this & Other Stories Smocked Ruffle Hem Midi Dress [14] (£120) gives me major witchy vibes. It kind of looks like it could be designed by the brand The Vampire's Wife" – KK

Sézane Garance Jumper

"I swore off cardigans after owning so many bad ones in high school and university — when everyone would wear them over their spaghetti-strap tank top – and it's a look I don't care to revisit. That being said, I love the idea of tucking a buttoned-up cardigan into high-waisted jeans — as you would a blouse — and I'm obsessed with the detailing and delicate quality of this Sézane Garance Jumper [15] (£90). It's sold out on the website, so I'll be making a visit to the store in Notting Hill and I signed up to be alerted the minute it comes back in stock." – SP

Ecco Shape Sculpted Motion Boots

"I've lived in Chelsea boots for the last two Winters, but up until now I've never found a pair with a heel that looked like they'd match the comfort of my flat ASOS ones. Then I spotted these Ecco Shape Sculpted Motion Boots [16] (£150) in the window of an Ecco store, and they've been haunting my dreams ever since." – GC

ASOS Design Leather Gloves with Touch Screen and Borg Trim in Black

"I'm not a big fan of the way gloves look. Once a teacher in my school said that wearing gloves inside the classroom made the students look like thugs. Charming. And that's how I ended up viewing gloves. But thanks to poor circulation, my hands get freezing so they really are a winter essential. I absolutely love these ASOS Design Leather Gloves with Touch Screen and Borg Trim in Black [17] (£20) with the "Borg style trim" and better yet, the fingers are touch screen compatible. Genius." – TC

Uniqlo Women Heattech Ultra Warm Thermal Leggings

"The time has come, my friends. Winter is here and the HeatTech is OUT. I'm obsessed with Uniqlo's superthin but superwarm layering items and these extra warm Uniqlo Women Heattech Ultra Warm Thermal Leggings [18] (£20) are my go-to every year. Bonus tip: I'm 7 months pregnant and they still fit. What wizardry is this?!" – GC

New Look Hiker Boots in Black

"I have a pair of Acne black boots that I love, but that I don't like wearing out when it's raining or snowing. I need a pair of black boots that look stylish, but that I won't be heartbroken over if they get a bit dinged up. These New Look Hiker Boots in Black [19] (£30) are those boots." – SP
