42 Outfits That Prove the Blazer Is Cooler Than Ever in 2020
To know me is to know that I love a good blazer. Checked? Yep. Tuxedo-style? Oh yeah. Oversize? My favourite! There are certain brands I rely on for great blazers — Khaite, Tibi, and The Frankie Shop, to name a few — but my absolute favourite way to shop for them is via the men's section at secondhand or vintage stores (I have them tailored, most often in the shoulders, so the fit isn't enormous). Though some would disagree, I find blazers to be that perfect finishing piece to almost any outfit, from work looks to night-out ensembles and even for formal occasions by way of a suit. Because I wear them so often, I'm always looking for new blazer outfit ideas, which is why I've taken to Instagram to scout some fresh formulas.
Right now, the oversize blazer look is an undeniable favourite among celebs, fashion insiders, and influencers. Whether styled with t-shirts and jeans, over crop tops and trousers, and even with cosy staples like hoodies and sweatpants, the bigger the blazer, the better. Also prominent? Ultratailored blazers in neutral colours and prints like camel, navy, and black all the way to plaid, houndstooth, and tweed (let's be honest, an exaggerated blazer isn't always the look). My favourite way to wear these timeless styles is with a vintage-wash jean or over a slip dress for a modern effect.
There's also been a big shift toward the belted blazer look. This trend is ultraflattering and an opportunity to experiment with silhouette without having to buy an entirely new piece. I personally love the look of a logo belt, unique vintage style, or unexpected colour, texture, or motif like right-now zebra print, patent leather, or those classic double C's. This hack is an easy refresh for any blazer already hanging in your wardrobe.
