I've been a huge proponent of cardigans since I would wear them with Peter Pan collars as a 2-year-old. Later, as I grew up attending a uniform school for my entire adolescence, I learned how to style them with everything from T-shirts to polos; oxfords and silk camisoles alike. Today, I've recently been a strong convert to the cardigan-as-a-shirt trend, but have also fallen so head-over-heels in love with the classic knit style that I've rediscovered my appreciation of that arsenal of styling tips I spent the better part of my life amassing. And, guess what? I'm not alone. Pouring through the street style images of chic Fashion Week attendees, I'm reminded that one of the most transitional items I own is, in fact, my stacks of cardigans. Ahead, see how I'm excited to style mine this Fall and Winter and also shop the best of the best if you're feeling in need of a little update. I promise—cardigans will quickly become your ultimate wardrobe essential.
