Jenna Dewan’s Custom Engagement Ring Is Inspired by a Very Specific Taurus Star Constellation
Jenna Dewan announced her engagement to partner Steve Kazee on Feb. 18, and wow, we are blinded by her stunning ring. The first thing we noticed when we saw her announcement was the large oval-shaped diamond, surrounded by 14 irregular-size smaller diamonds, set on a delicate gold band.
Nikki Reed also posted about the engagement, saying she was proud to be involved in their exciting moment. Nikki is the founder of sustainable luxury jewelry label Bayou With Love, which created Jenna's gorgeous ring. Steve created the custom ring with Nikki, and she says the process was "such a beautiful experience." As promised, the day after the announcement, Steve revealed more details about the ring he had custom made for Jenna, "and the beautiful humans who helped bring it to life."
In a series of Instagram stories on Feb. 19, Steve explained he knew from the beginning that Jenna's ring needed to be unique. "It had to be representative of who Jenna is. It had to be as beautiful as her," we wrote. He goes on to explain that Nikki — and Bayou With Love — were the perfect choice in creating the ring that is entirely based around Steve's desire to have it, as he says "echo the cosmos."
Each of the rings created by Bayou With Love are handcrafted in Los Angeles and made from recycled gold that's found in technology, and the design of this ring is very deliberate. "The solitaire is representative of our oneness in the universe surrounded by the stars," he said. "The diamonds laid into the band are representative of the pleiades constellation, which holds special meaning for Jenna and I."
The pleiades appears in the constellation of Taurus and is also known as the Seven Sisters. This likely also inspired the diamond halo that surrounds the central solitaire diamond, which has seven diamonds at the top, and the bottom — all of varying shapes and sizes. Steve also shared Nikki's early sketch of the ring, in which the ring is described as having a "lunar oval with seven sisters on a knife edge band."
