J Lo's Wedding Gown Has a Special Hidden Meaning for Her and Ben Affleck

Jennifer Lopez Wedding Dress Is Zuhair Murad

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are officially married. The pop star, 52, shared the news in her On the JLo newsletter on June 17, revealing that they said their "I Do's" in an intimate ceremony a day prior. For the special occasion, the "Marry Me" actress wore a stunning gown from Zuhair Murad that truly made the moment feel even more special.

Jennifer Lopez's wedding dress features an off-shoulder sweetheart neckline, long lace sleeves, and a corset bodice. The gown flows elegantly into a fishtail train and was complemented by a matching veil with lace trim. It's plucked from the designer's Spring 2023 bridal collection.

The "Love of My Life" singer then changed at the chapel into a fit-and-flare white sleeveless gown with a jacquard print and a whimsical pleated skirt by Alexander McQueen. In the "On the JLo" newsletter, she revealed that the dress is from a previous film and she's owned it for years. "So with the best witnesses you could ever imagine, a dress from an old movie and a jacket from Ben's closet, we read our own vows in the little chapel and gave one another the rings we'll wear for the rest of our lives," she wrote.

According to Red Carpet Fashion Awards, the "old movie" Lopez referred to is none other than "Jersey Girl," a romantic comedy she starred in with Ben Affleck in 2004. In that way, the dress is a tribute to him and a nod to the first time they dated before reconnecting in 2021.

Lopez posted her wedding announcement to Instagram with a picture laying in bed with a sweet grin across her face. In the photo, she showed off her classic wedding band and a beige almond-shaped manicure.

Affleck proposed to Lopez in April 2022 with a green engagement ring, as a nod to her favourite hue. "I always say the colour green is my lucky colour. Maybe you can remember a certain green dress," she explained in a previous newsletter, nodding to her Versace gown at the 2000 Grammys. "I've realised there are many moments in my life where amazing things happened when I was wearing green."

The couple first got engaged in 2002, with a pink sparkler, but eventually called off their wedding and separated. Now, 19 years later, this reunion feels different. Lopez acknowledged their unconventional journey to the altar in her most recent newsletter, writing: "Love is beautiful. Love is kind. And it turns out love is patient. Twenty years patient. Exactly what we wanted."
