Karlie Kloss's Eco-Friendly Adidas Collection Is Dedicated to the Next Generation of Women

Karlie Kloss [1] has teamed up with Adidas for her first collection [2], and I got a chance to talk to the model to learn all the juicy details during a Zoom yoga class. I'm not going to lie, I was slightly intimidated by the prospect of working out with Karlie (even if it was virtually) since she's super sporty, but I quickly relaxed when she started to chat. During our Zoom workout sesh, the passion poured out of Karlie as she spoke about how the new Adidas line focuses on the next generation's performance needs and how she wanted to inspire young women to harness the power of an active life.

Karlie wore a fun orange parka from the collection [3] during the call and revealed how the line is inspired by her sports background and her love of running. The collection offers staple pieces ranging from high-performance tights to streetwear-inspired outerwear, which all come with playful orange accents. Another thing that's pretty awesome? The collection aims to minimize plastic waste and uses recycled material and upcycled waste from remote islands, beaches, coastal communities, and shorelines, preventing it from polluting the ocean.

Since the model had dedicated the collection to the next generation of women, I was curious to learn which young stars she's inspired by. "First, I'd have to say Alexis's style is out of this world. If you follow her on Instagram or Tik Tok, you'll understand what I'm talking about," Karlie said, referring to Alexis Williams [4], an alum from Karlie's nonprofit organisation Kode With Klossy [5]. (The program helps young women develop confidence and embrace their passion for coding.) "I also have to brag for a second. She's a Comp Sci major at NYU, a cheerleader, and is also just doing a million amazing things. She just looks so chic all the time on a college student budget, and I think, 'How does she do it?'" Karlie said. Alexis stars alongside Karlie and Elysha Ang in the campaign, who is another young changemaker / Kode With Klossy alum.

The model also went on to discuss some of her Gen-Z style crushes [6]. "I really love Zendaya [7] and her style. She's just all-around so cool. It's funny to see younger people that I look up to. It's a weird thing, but I guess that happens as you get older. Then I like Millie Bobby Brown — she has great style. Emma Chamberlain [8], I think, has great style. I adore Storm Reed and Kaia Gerber too."
