Katy Perry wowed at King Charles III's coronation concert [1] on 7 May — and not just with her powerhouse vocals. The singer took to the stage at Windsor Castle wearing a showstopping dress made of gold leatherette material that dazzled as she performed hits "Roar" and "Firework". The bespoke Vivienne Westwood ball gown featured a corseted bodice, a plunging neckline, a voluminous floor-sweeping skirt, and detached sleeves that resembled opera gloves. Fans shared various comparisons to the metallic dress on social media, likening it to everything from aluminium foil to gold-wrapped chocolates like Ferrero Rocher chocolate and Quality Street toffee.

The design was inspired by a bridal look from the British fashion designer's spring 2006 Gold Label collection, according to Perry's longtime stylist Tatiana Waterford [2]. As Perry showed fans on Instagram [3], the dress was subtly personalised to commemorate the special occasion. Both Perry and the newly crowned king [4]'s names were stitched inside the bodice with purple thread, along with a crown symbol, the year, and the initials VW as a nod to the late designer [5].

The day before, Perry repped Westwood at Charles's Coronation service [6] at Westminster Abbey. The mother of one [7] wore a custom lavender skirt suit, opera gloves, and a matching fascinator with white heels and a pearl choker necklace adorned with a diamond Sovereign's Orb, which is a symbol of the Coronation. Before the ceremony began, she was spotted looking for her seat [8] from beneath her sheer hat — a moment that quickly became a meme. Perry took the mix-up in stride, jokingly assuring fans on Twitter [9], "Don't worry guys i found my seat."

Read ahead to admire the gilded gown Perry wore to the Coronation Concert, and be sure to take a closer look at her adorable cherub earrings.
