Why bother with trousers if you're Kendall Jenner? The model [3] slipped a pair of black semi-sheer tights over black briefs, added a white long-sleeved top and navy jumper on her top half, stepped into pointed court shoes . . . and went about her day. Without. Anything. Else. No trousers or skirts in sight.
Jenner posted the polarising look on her Instagram on 23 Nov., opening a carousel of photos showing some of her latest musings, including a horse riding video, a grazing board, and a snap of her 818 Tequila brand. The top-to-toe look, which was seen on the Bottega Veneta spring / summer '23 runway with Calzedonia tights, was not only worn inside for lounging around, either. Despite temperatures dropping and winter being a time for additional layers, Jenner threw the style rulebook out of the window and headed out in LA to run errands in just her tights and knickers.
While the no-trouser trend made waves during fashion month [4] with the likes of Victoria Beckham and Coperni sending 'fits ending at underwear down the catwalk, the divisive looks split opinion. Yet Jenner expertly makes a case for tights as trousers, and we see it. Sure, it helps to have model limbs, but it's a trend that could have staying power, particularly come party season.
The reality star posted the standout look a day after her second split with basketball player Devin Booker [5] was confirmed, with People [6] reporting that the latest split was due to their "incredibly busy schedules." As far as post-breakup outfits go, Jenner's trouser-less look is leg-endary.
