Precious Lee Wears Loewe's Elephant Bag to Protect Wildlife

Precious Lee's Elephant Bag Is So Much More Than a Cute Accessory — It Protects Natural Wildlife

You might've scrolled passed Loewe's adorable elephant bag on Instagram before, but it's important to learn the background behind this miniature accessory. It stands for an ongoing collaboration and partnership between the Jonathan Anderson-fronted Spanish brand and Knot On My Planet, which is an organisation that works with the Elephant Crisis Fund to protect elephant wildlife and end the ivory crisis. 100 percent of proceeds from Knot On My Planet's fashion and luxury collections go to the cause, and this blue and red textile Loewe bag is particularly important.

The Elephant bag, which is limited to just 300 editions and sold for $1,650, is hand-woven entirely from Shuka by women artisans from the Samburu Trust in Northern Kenya. Shuka is the same vibrant fabric that is used for the Samburu people's shawls. The blue stands for the sky, red for the blood of their cattle, and white for the cows' milk. In this way, this crossbody satchel (which has a removable strap, if you prefer to clutch it) represents a marriage of two groups that are at the forefront of preserving and working with nature to keep the environment safe. Loewe tapped models and friends of the brand like Precious Lee, Behati Prinsloo, Soo Joo, Imaan Hammam, and Liya Kebede to sport the bag and spread awareness about the cause. Scroll down to see the bag being brought to life.
