The Most Comfortable Jeans for Women, According to Editors

These Are the Most Comfortable Jeans in 2022, According to Our Editors

As POPSUGAR editors, we independently select and write about stuff we love and think you'll like too. If you buy a product we have recommended, we may receive affiliate commission, which in turn supports our work.

Jeans are a necessity in my wardrobe; I wear them with everything from t-shirts to blouses, boots and trainers. They're one of those pieces that work for any and every occasion. Growing up, I was not allowed to be in trackies if I left the house, so jeans were my staple for basically any situation. Which means, I am constantly on the hunt for a pair that's both cute and comfortable. Now, there are many of us who have abandoned denim in favour of leggings and joggers, but I'm here to tell you that I refuse to give up on my denim. In fact, I'm wearing jeans as I write this. The trick, I've found, is to edit, and embrace the most comfortable denim, because it does exist.

I've found a few favourites, but I'm always looking to expand my collection, so I called on those whose expertise I trust the most: my fellow editors. They picked these 10 pairs, and something tells me I have to go shopping soon. From classic straight leg jeans's to on-trend wide-leg shapes, these are our editors' favourite comfortable jeans. Here's to our jeans, may they always have a home in our wardrobe.

An '80s Style Jean: Madewell Balloon Jeans

"A few months ago, I truly did not understand how I was going to willingly put on jeans again. The Madewell Balloon Jeans (£71, originally £95) have completely changed that – they are the only pants I want to wear when leaving the house. They are cute, but more importantly, they are comfortable enough for all-day wear." — Allison Ingrum, editorial operations specialist

Curvy Mom Jeans: Stradivarius Organic Cotton Slim Mom Jeans

"The Stradivarius Organic Cotton Slim Mom Jeans (£20) are really good quality at an affordable price point. Mom jeans are tricky for curvier girls like me but the stretch in these makes them so comfy. They're high waisted but the stretch in them means they aren't tight around my thighs, which I love. They come in a few different colours as well so I have them in black, light blue with rips, and the washed denim colour." — Chloe Dunn, social content producer

Stretch Skinny Jeans: Uniqlo Women Ultra Stretch Skinny Fit High Rise Jeans (Long)

"The Uniqlo Women Ultra Stretch Skinny Fit High Rise Jeans (Long) (£35) are comfortable, stretchy, long-lasting, very decently priced, and flattering. I've tried skinny jeans, mom fit, baggy jeans, and high-waisted — you name it, I've tried it. The only thing that turns me off the brand is how tricky it can be to find the exact same pair again. There are so many variations (which is great for different body types) but I never seem to be able to buy the exact same pair. Either way, I've bought countless pairs of jeans from Uniqlo and they all work wonderfully. I've even worn them on a long haul flight before, which tells you all you need to know." — Tori Crowther, editor

On Trend Denim: Citizens of Humanity Annina Jean

"These Citizens of Humanity Annina Jeans (£221) are jeans you can lounge in — and that's something I don't think I've ever said about my jeans. Don't get me wrong, they look great dressed up to head out of the house, but they're the only pair I don't strip off my body the moment I get home. They're soft and roomy with a wide-leg and they just get better with wear." — Hannah Weil Mckinley, fashion director

'70s Flared Jeans: Tru The Label Stella Pant

"If you're all too familiar with jeans that squeeze your hips or flatten your bum then you'll love the Tru The Label Stella Pant (£69). They are designed with a delicious amount of stretch at the hips and a smaller waist that fits curvier girls like a glove. Plus, I love the slightly flared cut and frayed-hem, the details add '70s bombshell energy." — Kara Kia, associate editor

Comfortable Non Stretch Denim: Etica Tyler High Waist Vintage Straight Jeans

"I generally stay away from non-stretch denim, but I have fully fallen in love with these Etica Tyler High Waist Vintage Straight Jeans (£87, originally £135) because it is the lightest denim I have ever come in contact with. Seriously, I did not have to wiggle and shimmy to get into these, which is a huge win. They're pants I can, and will, wear all day long. Plus, the silhouette is the perfect wide leg; it's not straight, but it doesn't feel overly exaggerated, so I can wear them for any occasion too. I can't sing their praises enough." — India Yaffe, associate editor, commerce
