We’ve Ranked the Best Outfits From RuPaul’s Drag Race UK, From A'Whora's Bin Bag to Bimini's Amoeba

19/03/2021 - 03:40 PM

Since the second season of RuPaul's Drag Race UK [1] burst onto our screens back in January 2021, it's become one of the main highlights of our weeks. Whether it's the heartfelt stories [2] exchanged in the dressing room, the catty remarks following RuPaul's critiques, or the dazzling celebrity judges, each week on Drag Race UK has proven itself to be something truly special.

However, what's undoubtedly most impressive is of course the outfits [3]. Each episode sees the queens completing a number of challenges that all involve serving some serious "lewks", and after RuPaul's unfortunate outburst back in episode five (you know, that H&M comment), the pressure has been on for the contestants to prove their worth on the runway. So far, the majority of the queens have risen to the challenge, particularly A'Whora, Lawrence Chaney, and Bimini Bon Boulash.

While it's impossible to forget some of the standout ensembles, a refresher on some of the best (and worst) looks is always welcome. Thankfully, we've taken the time to round up the cream of the crop, and we've ranked them for your judging pleasure. Keep reading to see which of your favourite queens made the cut.

Covid Nine-Tina: A'Whora's "Supershero" Bin Bag Dress

Without a doubt, A'Whora's blue bin bag dress [4] from the "supershero" challenge is the look that we're all still obsessing about. The dress made its debut in episode seven, when the queens's sewing skills were put to the test having been tasked with creating superhero outfits out of household items. Having studied a diploma in fashion, it makes perfect sense that A'Whora came out on top, and the fact that it was inspired by the NHS frontline workers made it all the more powerful.

Bimini Bon Boulash's "PreHerstoric" Look

Next up is Bimini Bon Boulash's self-titled Amoeba look, created for the "preherstoric" challenge in episode six. Finished with braided bunches, floaty sleeves, and white contact lenses, the winning look stopped judges in their tracks — and this is after Boulash blew them away with her Katie Prince costume for the highly anticipated Snatch Game.

Bimini Bon Boulash's "Stoned on the Runway" Suit

Bimini Bon Boulash strikes again, and in episode eight, they stunned viewers with a jewel-encrusted suit jacket and matching tights for the "stoned on the runway" challenge. The outfit came complete with bedazzled acne spots and a punk-inspired haircut that even Vivienne Westwood (aka Boulash's icon) would be proud of.

A'Whora's "Stoned on the Runway Drip" Look

A'Whora consistently dresses to impress, and her take on "stoned on the runway" was just as captivating as any of her previous looks. She strutted down the runway in a jewelled bodysuit, complete with a Ru-inspired updo and diamond drip. That's right, diamond.

A'Whora's "A Day at the Seaside" Outfit

What did we tell you about A'Whora? Her "a day at the seaside" look was a mouthwatering tribute to a quintessentially British meal: fish and chips. Her outfit paraded down the runway with a matching newspaper can, red gloves, and a glittered ketchup bottle atop her head. Genius.

Lawrence of Chania: "Supershero" Look

Chaney's "supershero" look was particularly striking. Similar to A'Whora, the pandemic-inspired outfit was constructed out of blue bin bags and topped off with bright orange piping, pom-poms, and toilet cleaners, complete with a signature Chaney makeup look.

Bimini Bon Boulash's Bridal "Eleganza" Look

Bimini's bridal look is surely going to start a totally new trend. It's high fashion, it's destination wedding, and it's Bimini Bon Boulash all in one. Created with a heavily encrusted body, complete with jewelled nipples, this look saw Boulash sashaying down the runway in true eleganza.

Bimini Bon Boulash's "Surprise" Look

The most surprising thing about this Bimini Bon Boulash look is how editorial and high fashion it really is. Boulash is no stranger to the runway, especially as she recently walked for genderless label Art School's London Fashion Week 2021 show, and this look was proof that her creative skills are (somewhat) unmatched.

Lawrence Chaney's "A Day at the Seaside" Look

Nothing says seaside like a vivid orange lifebuoy, and Lawrence Chaney took that fact and ran with it. Creating an entire look based on one tiny aspect of the theme is in keeping with true Chaney style, and for that alone, her glamorous seaside look makes it into our top 10.

A'Whora's 3D Printed "Preherstoric" Look

Anything that's 3D printed gets an automatic yes in our books, and A'Whora's carefully constructed "preherstoric" cavewoman outfit was no exception. Fitted with a perfectly matching mask and luxurious fur coat, A'Whora's design skills were once again put to the test in this challenge, and she passed with flying colours.

Tayce's Newport "Queen of Your Hometown" Look

Who'd have thought that Newport could look this glamorous? Clearly, Tayce did, because this look gives us Welsh dragon, Chinese New Year, and Maleficent all in one go. Complete with impressive headgear and an eye-catching centrepiece, this may well be one of Tayce's most imaginative looks yet.

Lawrence Chaney's "Panto Dame" Look

Lawrence Chaney has a real-life sewing machine on her head, and that's only part of what makes this look so epic. The attention to detail, the colour coordination, and most importantly: the earrings. Each earring features a classic pantomime phrase, "Oh No He Isn't" and "Oh Yes He Is", which honestly takes the look to a whole other level.

Lawrence Chaney's Drag Race "Eleganza" Look

Drag race winner Lawrence Chaney raced through the final in this form-fitting, drag race inspired look and we are here for it. In signature RuPaul purple, with a checkerboard side, and matching glasses, it's Chaney all over, and it's glorious.

Tayce's Masc Performer Look

It's so out of the ordinary, that it might just be her best look yet? We love seeing Tayce [5] in all her made up glory, but this look was especially impressive, because for once, she did anything but the classic (gorgeous) Tayce look. Donning a bright orange wig and tight black trousers, we can tell that she had fun with this look, and that's exactly why we love it.

A'Whora's "Masc" Performer Look

A true performer can really make an audience feel things, and with this look, I truly feel that A'Whora has my heart. In leather hot pants, a cropped blazer, and topped off with what can only be described as a cab driver's hat, A'Whora's look hits the nail on the head of this challenge.

Lawrence Chaney's "Preherstoric" Dress

Lawrence Chaney is a queen that ticks every box imaginable. Week after week, Chaney surprises us with impeccable makeup, creative outfits, and her charming humour, and in episode six, her "preherstoric" look was sensational. Featuring a formfitting cavewoman dress with red detailing, the look was made complete by some seriously unique teeth.

Exuberant Ellie: Ellie Diamond's "Supershero" Look

Arguably one of Ellie Diamond's best looks, her exuberant "supershero" took to the stage in episode seven and, honestly, there were smiles all round. Made with what looks like various wrapping papers, the candy-coloured outfit is about as Ellie Diamond as it gets. Complete with a toilet plunger that Diamond turned into her very own sceptre, it truly was a look fit for a (drag) queen.
