Sainsbury's clothing brand Tu launched a range of period knickers with intimate-wear brand Love Luna. The all-black range comes in five styles — Midi Knickers, Bikini Knickers, Full Knickers, Workout Knickers, and Maternity Knickers — in an affordable price range of £10-£12. But, do they work, and how do you clean them? Keep reading ahead.

For many of us who have never used period pants, they seem like an ambitious and dubious sell. After reading the reviews, most customers suggest that Love Luna's period pants are best used for lighter days or as a backup. The knickers are designed with four layers of absorbent, waterproof, and breathable padding "so whether you're at the gym, work, going for a walk or just enjoying your day, you can rest easy knowing we're working for you!," the brand assures on its website.

Period knickers are an eco-friendly alternative to pads and tampons, but instead of throwing them away, you've got to give them a good scrub. We recommend rinsing them in cold water after use, which will lift the stains. Then, throw them in a garment bag, and wash then in the machine with cold water. Finally, hang to dry or put them on a delicate tumble — and you're done!
